Josh Fraccaro graduated with an MSW in Clinical Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. he has extensive experience working with young adults and adults struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, trauma, ADHD, life-transitions, relationships, low self-esteem, college/grad school adjustment, communication issues and athletic and performance psychology. Josh’s goal as a therapist is to assist clients to develop positive and healthy coping skills that empower them to navigate current and future issues while improving self-regulation and creating a stronger and healthier mindset. By utilizing a Strengths-based approach, Josh takes into consideration biological, psychological, social and environmental factors that might be contributing to the challenges clients are facing. He works with clients to improve the usage of their strengths and identify new techniques to improve overall mental wellness.
Josh is experienced in and utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative therapy to change maladaptive behaviors and thoughts while promoting healthier, more constructive thought patterns that reshape and improve emotional and behavioral functioning. Josh also works with couples by utilizing the Gottman method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to rebuild relationships experiencing communication issues, infidelity, sexual dysfunction, intimacy, interpersonal conflict, financial stress and crisis.
Josh is experienced in providing trauma-informed therapy creating a safe, consistent space to explore and process trauma. He is also trained in the relationship of neurodevelopment and trauma which identifies the ways trauma affects the brain and thus your thoughts, feelings, emotions and internal experience. He is also a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP) who firmly believes in the impact of compassion and empathy in creating a strong therapeutic alliance which provides clients a safe, trusting and non-judgmental space to engage in meaningful and transformative therapy.
